Born on August 28, 1963, in a place called Wisconsin, Jay came into this world to two folks who made sure he had everything he needed. His daddy, Merritt Norvell, was a big deal in the world of sports, bein’ the first Black athletic director at Michigan State. That’s right, first one ever, and he did that job from 1995 to 1999. That’s not just somethin’ to shake a stick at, let me tell ya. Jay’s momma, well, her name was Cynthia. She was a model, and together, they made quite the pair.
Now, I gotta say, Jay didn’t just pop up outta nowhere. His daddy, Merritt, married his mama, Cynthia, on July 4, 1962. Ain’t that a special day for a special occasion? It’s like they was meant to be together, celebratin’ America and all. They had Jay and his brother Aaron, who I’m sure helped them keep busy.
