Well, folks, let me tell you somethin’ about this here baseball game between Southern Indiana and St. Thomas. It was a real big ol’ mess of excitement, I’ll tell ya that much. Now, you might not know much about these teams, but I sure do. Both of ’em been playin’ real hard, and there was some real tough competition goin’ on, I reckon.
So, the University of Southern Indiana, they ain’t no strangers to good baseball, let me tell you. They been swingin’ their bats like they know what they’re doin’. In this here game, they really took the lead. It was a tough battle out there on the field, but Southern Indiana, well, they pulled through. Now, the game wasn’t easy. They had to fight every step of the way. In fact, in one of them games, they managed to score 8 runs in the seventh inning! Can you believe that? 8 whole runs! And that made all the difference, sure as sugar.
But don’t go thinkin’ St. Thomas just laid down and let Southern Indiana walk all over ’em. No ma’am, no sir. The Tommies from St. Thomas, they were right there, scrappin’ and fightin’. They got themselves a run in the top of the third, and that brought ‘em within a single run of catchin’ up. That was some mighty close playin’, I tell ya. But Southern Indiana, they weren’t gonna let go that easy.
Now, in another game, St. Thomas managed to take Southern Indiana to the edge. It was a real slugfest, I tell ya. The score was mighty close, 7-6 in favor of St. Thomas. Those boys weren’t gonna back down no matter what. They sure did give Southern Indiana a run for their money.
And then there was that game, that first one, where St. Thomas came up short again. Southern Indiana beat ‘em by just one run. Now, that was a heartbreaker for the Tommies, I reckon. But Southern Indiana, they were lookin’ sharp. Them boys had some mighty fine batters that day. When you get 14 runs like they did in that one game, you know you’re doin’ somethin’ right.
Let me tell ya, though, there was one moment that really got folks worried. One of the Southern Indiana batters got knocked down, face down right in the dirt. That there was a scary moment. You could see the pitcher from St. Thomas checkin’ in real quick to see if the boy was okay. Thank the Lord, he got back up, but it sure was a close call. These things happen in baseball, but it don’t make it any less nerve-wrackin’ when you see one of them boys down like that.
All in all, this here Southern Indiana vs. St. Thomas baseball series was a real doozy. Both teams played their hearts out, but Southern Indiana came out on top more times than not. Whether it was them big innings or the tight games that came right down to the wire, it was clear that these boys from Southern Indiana weren’t givin’ up without a fight.
But let’s not forget about St. Thomas. They ain’t no slouches, and they’ll be back next season stronger than ever, that’s for sure. In the meantime, Southern Indiana’s gonna have a lot to be proud of after this here series. Those boys sure did show up and show out. I reckon we’re all gonna be talkin’ about these games for a long time to come!
