Well, well, well, if you’re sittin’ there scratchin’ your head over that “Amigo” crossword clue in the New York Times, don’t you worry none, I got you covered. Now, I ain’t a fancy crossword expert or nothin’, but I reckon I can help ya out a bit. If you been workin’ on the puzzle and stumbled on that “Amigo” clue, you might be thinkin’ it’s one of them tricky ones. And sure enough, sometimes crossword clues can leave you more confused than a chicken in a new pen.

Solving the Amigo Clue in the NYT Crossword: Tips and Answers

Now, let me tell you, “Amigo” is one of them words that pops up in crosswords all the time. It’s Spanish, ya know, and it means “friend.” A lotta times, it shows up in puzzles because it’s a short and sweet word. You might see it used to mean “buddy” or “pal.” Real simple, but sometimes them crosswords got a way of throwin’ you off. You might get to thinkin’ there’s a trick to it, but truth be told, it’s just a regular ol’ friendly word.

If you’re working on one of them New York Times crosswords, you might notice that “Amigo” shows up from time to time. Maybe you saw it just recently, back on September 24, 2024. It showed up, and if you were lucky enough to figure it out, you’d know the answer is “PAL.” Simple as that, see? Sometimes it’s “BUD” or “MATE” too, but it’s all meanin’ the same thing—somebody you trust, somebody you call a friend.

Now let me tell ya, this here crossword business ain’t always easy, but there’s a pattern to it. I been doin’ these puzzles off and on for a while now, and here’s what I’ve learned:

  • Most crosswords start out easy, but them Thursday to Saturday ones can be real tough. It’s like tryin’ to pick peas outta a pile of rocks!
  • If you get stuck, don’t be afraid to peek at the clues that came before or after. Sometimes the puzzle’s like a little story, ya just gotta figure out where the pieces fit.
  • If the clue’s askin’ for “Amigo,” don’t overthink it. Chances are it’s lookin’ for a simple word like “PAL,” “BUD,” or “MATE.”
  • And don’t forget the Mini puzzles. They’re a bit easier, but they still get ya thinkin’. It’s good practice for when you tackle the big ones!

But, just to be clear, sometimes them crossword clues like to mix it up. You might get a curveball where they ask for something like “Buddy, in Spanish,” or “Amigo, in a different language,” and that’s where ya gotta dig a little deeper. But don’t stress none, all you gotta do is keep your head on straight, and the answers will start to come to ya.

Here’s somethin’ else for ya: If you’re just gettin’ started with these puzzles, don’t worry about tryin’ to solve the whole thing in one go. Take your time. Do what you can, and when you can’t figure somethin’ out, leave it and move on to the next. Like when you’re workin’ in the garden, ya don’t try to pick all the tomatoes at once—you pick what you can, and come back later when the rest is ripe.

So if you’re sittin’ there lookin’ at the “Amigo” clue, just remember it ain’t as tough as it looks. The answer’s likely “PAL,” “BUD,” or maybe even “MATE.” You can’t go wrong with one of them. And if you’re stuck, remember, there’s always another day and another crossword. Keep at it, and before you know it, you’ll be solving ’em like a pro!

And that’s all I got for ya today! Good luck with them puzzles, and don’t be shy to try your hand at the NYT Mini crossword if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ quick. It’s good fun, and you’ll be a crossword master in no time!
