Okay, so I’ve been messing around with Zenless Zone Zero lately, and let me tell you, figuring out these assists was a bit of a head-scratcher at first. But, I’ve finally got the hang of it, and I thought I’d share my experience, in case any of you are struggling with the same thing.
So, first off, you got these things called Assist Points. Think of them as your “assist juice.” You gotta fill up this meter before you can even think about calling in your teammates for help. Now, how do you fill it up? By pulling off Chain Attacks. These are basically fancy follow-up attacks you can do after certain moves. Get good at those, and you’ll be swimming in Assist Points.
Once you’ve got some Assist Points, you can start using assists. But it’s not as simple as just hitting a button. There are two main types of assists: Defensive and Evasive. Each character has one or the other, so you gotta pay attention to who you’re using.
Here’s where it gets a little tricky. To trigger an assist, you need to time it just right. I noticed that the best time was to watch the enemies closely, they will strike you with a yellow flash. So I started to press the switch button when the enemy was about to attack me.
- Defensive Assists are for your melee characters. You use these when an enemy is about to smack you. If you time it right, you’ll block the attack and counter. Pretty sweet, right?
- Evasive Assists are for, well, evading. You use these when you want to dodge an attack and get some space.
And then there’s this thing called a Quick Assist. From what I’ve gathered, this happens when you hit an enemy with a certain skill, and it automatically calls in the next character in your squad to do a quick attack. It’s like a free bonus hit! Also, I’ve noticed that some characters have buffs that trigger with Quick Assists, so that’s something to keep in mind when you’re building your team.
I spent a good few hours just practicing these in the training mode, and let me tell you, it makes a huge difference in combat. Once you get the timing down, you can really start to dominate. It’s like a dance, you know? You’re dodging, attacking, and calling in your teammates for backup. It’s pretty awesome when it all comes together.
Some Tips
One thing I learned the hard way is to not just spam the assist button. You gotta be strategic about it. Use your Assist Points wisely, and make sure you’re using the right assist for the situation.
Oh, and another thing. Pay attention to your team composition. Make sure you have a good mix of characters with different assist types. That way, you’ll be ready for anything. I like to use a team with both Defensive and Evasive characters so that I can handle any situation during the game.
