Alright, let’s talk about this… uh… Jay-son Tay-tum camp thing. I heard about it from my grandson, you know, the one always glued to that phone. Says this Jay-son fella is a big deal in basketball. Don’t know much about basketball myself, always seemed like a lot of runnin’ and jumpin’ for nothin’, but the kids these days, they love it.

So, this Jay-son, he’s got a camp. A camp for basketball, I guess. Like them summer camps where kids go and learn to, you know, shoot hoops and dribble and stuff. My grandson, he wanted to go, but it’s probably too expensive. These fancy fellas, they charge an arm and a leg for everything. Back in my day, we just played in the dirt with whatever we could find.

Now, from what I gathered, this ain’t just any ol’ camp. This is an “elite” camp. Elite! Sounds mighty important, don’t it? Like they only take the best of the best. Probably got all these fancy drills and special trainers and whatnot. They say this Jay-son fella, he teaches the kids himself. Well, that’s good, I reckon. If you’re gonna pay all that money, you want the big shot to be there, not some stand-in.

They got these “point guard” camps and “forward” camps, all mixed together now, or so I hear. Mornin’s are for learnin’, they say. Ninety minutes of skill stuff. That’s a long time to be runnin’ around, if you ask me. My knees would be achin’ somethin’ fierce. But these young’uns, they got energy to spare, I suppose.

  • They learn how to shoot better.
  • They learn how to dribble better.
  • They learn how to… do whatever else they do in basketball. Pass, I think they call it?

This Jay-son, he’s from somewhere… Miss… Miss-our-ee, I think? Saint Louis, that’s it. Born in 1998. My grandson told me that. Kids these days, they know everything. And this Jay-son, he played for some college team, Duke somethin’ or other. Apparently, that’s a big deal too. Lots of famous players come from there, or so they say.

He even plays for some professional team now, Boston something. They wear green, I think. My grandson has a shirt. Costs a fortune, that shirt did. And this Jay-son fella, he’s a “star forward.” Whatever that means. He must be good, though, all these kids lookin’ up to him. My grandson even said somethin’ about this Jay-son losin’ his hero, someone he really looked up to. Made the boy real sad, he was, even though he never even met the fella. Guess that’s how it is with these heroes.

Now, they say at this camp, you get to “interact” with Jay-son. That means talk to him, I guess. And he gives you “tips” and “hands-on instruction.” Sounds fancy, but I bet it’s just showin’ the kids how to hold the ball right and where to stand and stuff. Still, I reckon it’s excitin’ for the kids to meet a real basketball star. Probably makes ‘em feel special.

And this Jay-son fella, he talks to the reporters too. About his team and all that. My grandson showed me somethin’ on his phone about it. This Jay-son, he’s tryin’ to get to the free throw line more, whatever that is. Seems like he didn’t do it enough last year. Guess even the stars gotta work on stuff. And folks are always gossiping about who’s gonna be on the team next year. Always somethin’ with these sports fellas.

So, this Jay-son Tatum camp, it sounds like a big to-do. Kids learnin’ basketball, meetin’ a star, havin’ a good time. It’s a different world from when I was young, that’s for sure. We didn’t have fancy camps and star players. We just had a ball and a hoop, if we were lucky. But times change, I guess. And if these kids wanna spend their summers learnin’ to dribble and shoot, well, more power to ‘em.

Just hope they don’t forget to play in the dirt every now and then. It’s good for ya.

Anyway, that’s all I know about this Jay-son Tay-tum camp. Probably more to it, but that’s enough for this old lady. Time for a cup of tea and a good sit-down.
