Okay, so I’ve been playing a ton of Honor of Kings lately, and I got into this huge debate with my friend about reflect damage and damage reduction. It all started when I was messing around with different hero builds, you know, trying to find that perfect combination of tankiness and damage output.
My buddy kept insisting that if a hero has an item or ability that reflects damage, it somehow reduces the incoming damage before the reflection. I was like, “Dude, that makes no sense! It’s called reflect damage, not reduce and reflect damage!”
So, to settle this once and for all, I decided to do some testing. I started to test by:
- Choose a hero.
- Pick some items that offered damage reflection.
Then, I jumped into a custom game with a willing (or maybe unwilling) friend. The plan was simple: I’d let him whale on me while I meticulously recorded the damage numbers.
First test: I had no reflect items. He was hitting me for, say, 100 damage per hit (just to keep the numbers easy). Okay, baseline established.
Second test: I equipped a reflect damage item. Let’s say it reflected 20% of the damage. Now, he’s still hitting me, and I thought I was still taking that full 100 damage, and then 20 damage was being reflected back. But I was not sure, so I need to record more data.
So, After several round of tests, I keep changing the items, and asking my friend to keep attacking, the data became more and more, I put them in a spreadsheet, and started some calculations.
The result? It turns out, my initial hunch was correct. Reflect damage doesn’t give you damage reduction. The incoming damage remains the same, the percentage listed on the items or abilities is purely the amount sent back to the attacker. My friend was wrong! I felt so great after winning the debate. And after I shared my results with him, he had no more arguments, haha!
It was a fun little experiment, even though it involved getting pummeled in-game for a while. But hey, that’s what friends (and custom games) are for, right? At least now I know for sure how reflect damage works in Honor of Kings!
