Alright, let’s talk about this gal, Nika Muhl. Heard a whole bunch about her, so let me tell ya what I know, the way I understand it, ya hear?
So, this Nika, she’s a basketball player, a real good one, they say. Plays for the Seattle Storm, that’s a women’s team, a big deal team, like the ones you see on TV. But she got herself hurt real bad, messed up her knee somethin’ awful. Tore somethin’ called an ACL, sounds painful, don’t it? Happened over in Turkey, where she was playin’ for another team, Besiktas, I think they called it. Poor thing, she’s gotta have surgery and all that. Gonna be a while before she’s back on the court, I reckon.
Now, this girl, she’s young, only 23 or so. But she’s already made a name for herself. Folks say she was a star in college, played for UConn, some fancy school out east. They even called her the Defensive Player of the Year, twice! That means she’s good at stoppin’ other girls from scorin’, I guess. And she’s real good at passin’ the ball too, set some kinda record for assists. Means she helps her teammates score, see? She ain’t just about herself, she’s a team player, that’s what I like.
She’s got a fella too, another basketball player, name of Nahiem Alleyne. Young love, ain’t it sweet? They seem happy, good for them. She puts pictures on somethin’ called Instagram, all them young folks are on it these days. Got a cat too, she does. Likes to show it off, just like my grandbaby with her darn hamster.
- She plays guard, that means she runs around a lot, I think.
- She’s pretty tall, six feet they say, and skinny as a rail.
- She’s from Croatia, that’s over in Europe somewhere.
This Seattle Storm team, they signed her to a four-year deal. That’s a long time to be playin’ basketball. They’re payin’ her good money too, more than I ever seen in my life! But money ain’t everything, especially when you got a bum knee. Gotta get that fixed up first, then she can worry about the money. They say she’s makin’ somethin’ like $74,000 a year on average. That’s a lot of hay, ain’t it?
Folks are real worried about her knee, though. ACL injuries are tough, takes a long time to heal. She’s gotta work hard, do what the doctors tell her. But she seems like a tough cookie, this Nika. She’s already postin’ pictures of herself tryin’ to get back in shape, liftin’ weights and such. That’s the spirit! Gotta keep fightin’ if you wanna get back to doin’ what you love. And this girl, she loves basketball, you can tell.
She’s got a whole bunch of folks followin’ her online, over half a million, they say. That’s more people than live in my whole town, I bet! They all wanna see her get better, get back on the court. And I reckon she will, this Nika Muhl, she’s a fighter, you can just tell.
So, that’s the story on Nika Muhl, as best as I can tell it. A good basketball player, got hurt, but she’s workin’ hard to get back. Wish her all the best, I do. Hope she heals up quick and gets back to doin’ what she loves. And maybe wins a championship or two for that Seattle team. That’d be somethin’, wouldn’t it?
