My Little Quest for DP World Tour Shorts
Alright, so I kept seeing these guys on the DP World Tour wearing some pretty sharp shorts. You know, watching the golf on TV, you notice these things. At first, I didn’t think much of it, just another piece of golf gear.
But then it kind of stuck in my head. Some of those shorts looked really comfortable, moved well when they swung. And honestly, some just looked better than the baggy old things I usually wear out on the course. I started thinking, maybe getting a pair like that wouldn’t be such a bad idea. You know, look the part, feel a bit more… professional? Even if my game doesn’t quite match up, haha.
So, I decided to actually look into it. Fired up the computer, started searching around. My first idea was to find the exact shorts some specific player was wearing. Bad idea. Turns out, that’s harder than you’d think. Brands change sponsors, specific tour issue stuff isn’t always easy to find for us regular folks, or it costs an arm and a leg.
I spent a good evening just browsing different sports apparel sites. Looked at the big brands you see the pros wearing. Saw lots of stuff labelled ‘Tour’ this or ‘Pro’ that. It gets confusing fast. Lots of technical fabrics mentioned, moisture-wicking this, stretch-panel that. Honestly, I just wanted something that looked like what I saw on TV and didn’t feel like wearing cardboard.
Finding the Right Pair (Sort Of)
Eventually, I gave up on finding the exact match. Instead, I focused on the style. I wanted something a bit more tailored, not too long, not too short, and definitely in a plain color like navy or grey – something versatile.

Ordering was easy enough. Click, click, done. Waited a few days for them to arrive.
Putting Them to the Test
When the package came, I ripped it open. First impression? They felt… okay. Lighter than my old shorts, definitely. The fabric felt a bit technical, slick almost. Tried them on. Fit was pretty good, slimmer than I was used to, but not tight. They looked alright, felt pretty decent just walking around the house.
The real test was the golf course. Went out the next Saturday with my usual group. Pulled on the new shorts. Felt a bit self-conscious at first, wondering if anyone would notice or if I looked like I was trying too hard. Nobody said anything, which was probably for the best.
How did they perform? Well, they were comfortable, I’ll give them that. Didn’t restrict my swing. It was a warm day, and they did feel cooler than my older cotton ones. So, the ‘moisture-wicking’ stuff probably worked.
Did they make me play like a DP World Tour pro? Absolutely not. Shocking, I know! Shot my usual mediocre round. Found two bunkers, lost a ball in the rough. The shorts didn’t magically fix my slice or improve my putting.
But you know what? It wasn’t about that in the end. It felt good to wear something that looked a bit smarter, felt more like proper golf gear. Maybe it’s a mental thing. It was a small change, just a pair of shorts, but it was part of trying to take the game a bit more seriously, or at least feel better while playing badly. And they are comfy, so I’ll keep wearing them. Just gotta remember they don’t come with a tour pro’s swing included.
