Okay, so today I messed around with creating some Y2K-themed bundles, and let me tell you, it was a trip down memory lane! I wanted to share my whole process, from the initial idea to the finished product.
Getting Started: The Idea
First, I brainstormed what exactly screams “Y2K.” I’m thinking shiny textures, baby tees, butterfly clips, those chunky sneakers, and anything with a futuristic-but-retro vibe. I figured creating bundles around specific aesthetics would be a good way to go. I had 3 basic categories.
Gathering My “Supplies”
Then came the fun part – digging through my stuff! I rummaged through old clothes, accessories, and even some old tech stuff I had lying around. I also hit up some online marketplaces to see if I could snag any good deals on things I was missing. I was looking for things like:
- Clothes: Think baby tees, low-rise jeans, tracksuits, anything with rhinestones or glitter.
- Accessories: Butterfly clips, colorful sunglasses, chunky jewelry, bandanas.
- Tech: Maybe an old flip phone (even if it doesn’t work!), a colorful CD player, some old CDs.
- Other Stuff: Stickers, temporary tattoos, anything with that early 2000s aesthetic.
Creating the Bundles
This is where I got creative. I started grouping items together based on vibe and color schemes. I came up with a few different bundle ideas:
- “Cyber Girl” Bundle:I put together my metallic jacket , a pair of chunky platform boots,and some blue-tinted sunglasses.
- “Pop Princess” Bundle:For this one,I find my pink baby tee with a sparkly graphic, a denim mini-skirt, and a bunch of colorful hair clips.
- “Tech Nerd” Bundle:I take my old, non-working cell phone ,a couple of burned CDs with early 2000s hits,and also my colorful headphones.
I made sure each bundle had a good mix of items and that everything felt * took me more time to find what I wanted.
The Final Touch
Finally, I took some photos of each bundle, trying to capture that Y2K aesthetic in the lighting and background. I’m not a pro photographer or anything, but I think they turned out pretty cute!I think I’ve got something cool here.
It’s pretty time-consuming,especially when you’re digging for old things.
All in all, it was a super fun project! It was great to revisit that era and put my own spin on it.
